Presented on THURSDAY, february 14, 2013
Hosted by laurie kallis
by Sami Karaman
On tonight's show, we feature three more new stories by Life Rattle Writer Sami Karaman.
Sami Karaman was born in Ottawa in 1991 to parents of Jordanian decent. He has an older brother and sister. Sami and his family moved to Mississauga, where he now studies communication and professional writing. Although born in Ottawa, Sami takes pride in being a diehard Toronto Maple Leafs fan. Sami Karaman loves to play acoustic guitar and smoke the occasional cigar.
Sami is a very, very funny writer. His humour is not laugh out funny but subtle, rather observational and often situational. Sami has a unique, distinct, almost casual voice, and he provides the same for the people he writes about, capturing their personalities through character-driven dialogue. Tonight's featured stories are almost Seinfeldesque—seemingly about nothing but really about everything, including issues of identity and a young man’s place in the world as he sets out for adulthood.
Our first story takes place almost entirely in a car as four young men head home after taking in a movie.
Full of sharp observations, our second story has Sami, and a friend and his dog, meeting up for a walk through their neighbourhood and banter.
In tonight’s third story, three young men sit around in their “Batcave” when a card trick sparks a conversation about their futures.
